How to Replace an Audi G28 Engine Speed Sensor

1. Engine Speed Sensor

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and could indicate the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper timing chain. However, the error code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It is a little tricky to test because there are different pins on the connector and they all have different functions. The most effective method to test it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. When the sensor is functional, it should read approximately 1000 ohms. Check for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if there are problems with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a significant drop in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or, my injectors weren't firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, 3 were drenched in gazoline, the fourth was dry. When I crank the engine without sparks, I put a piece of tissue on top of each injector hole, the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th one stays closed. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I got 0ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car is able to start when the G28 is not plugged in and is running fine when it is plugged in, but still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when it is unplugged, shows an ice temperature of -49c. Also i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the audi a1 key replacement actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.
